The protected Civil Engineering variant (DEXI: Dozer, Excavator, Interchangeable) has been designed and can be configured to meet exact customer specifications but it utilizes exactly the same interchangeable technology used for the Security Variant.

ROLE

4      A high mobility, tracked engineer vehicle with interchangeable role specific PODs.  The DEXI POD configuration provides a protected scalable digging capability with front mounted flexible scalable dozer capability.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

5          The MPODt demonstrator is a tracked vehicle powered by a Perkins T6-6354 turbocharged six cylinder diesel developing 186kW, coupled to a David Brown T300 hot shift transmission with centrifugal clutch. Production vehicles have a more powerful Cummins 275 B series water cooled, compression ignition, turbo-charged engine and automatic transmission. The vehicle is constructed extensively of aluminium alloy.

6      Steering is achieved by dedicated steering brakes which act upon epicyclic gear trains within the gearbox to control the relative speed of the tracks, causing the vehicle to turn with a slewing action.

7      The vehicle has a crew of two:  commander/operator and driver/operator.
